Our generator makes it effortless to experiment with colors and get production-ready CSS code in seconds.

Whether you are building a landing page, a SaaS dashboard, a mobile app UI, or a personal portfolio — our gradient generator provides everything you need: 20+ stunning preset gradients, live mockup previews for buttons, cards and backgrounds, multiple CSS format variants, and the ability to copy a single gradient value or the full CSS block ready to paste into your stylesheet.

How to Use the CSS Gradient Generator

1
Choose Gradient Type

Select from Linear (straight direction), Radial (circular from center outward), or Conic (rotating around a center point) gradient types. Each has its own unique visual effect and use case.

2
Set Direction or Angle

For linear gradients, choose a preset direction (top to bottom, left to right, diagonal) or dial in a custom angle from 0° to 360°. For radial gradients, choose the shape (ellipse or circle) and position. For conic, set the start angle.

3
Customize Color Stops

Add as many color stops as you want. For each stop, pick a color using the color picker, set the position percentage using the slider, and adjust the opacity individually. Drag stops to reorder them.

4
Preview in Real-time

Every change instantly updates the live preview panel, button mockup, card mockup, and background mockup — so you can see exactly how your gradient will look in a real UI context before copying the code.

5
Copy CSS Code

Click "Copy CSS" to copy just the gradient value, or "Copy Full" to copy the complete CSS property block including background and background-image declarations. Multiple format variants are available — standard, with -webkit- prefix, as a CSS variable, and as a background shorthand.

Understanding CSS Gradient Types

Linear gradients transition colors along a straight line. You control the direction — left to right, top to bottom, or any custom angle. They are the most common gradient type and are used for backgrounds, buttons, hero sections, and text effects. The CSS syntax is linear-gradient(direction, color1, color2, ...).

Radial gradients radiate outward from a center point in a circular or elliptical shape. They are perfect for spotlight effects, glowing elements, vignettes, and circular UI components. The CSS syntax is radial-gradient(shape at position, color1, color2, ...).

Conic gradients are the newest CSS gradient type. Colors rotate around a center point like a color wheel or pie chart. They are used for progress indicators, pie charts, color wheels, and unique decorative effects. The syntax is conic-gradient(from angle, color1, color2, ...).

Adding the repeating- prefix to any gradient type creates a tiling pattern — useful for stripes, geometric patterns, and decorative backgrounds. Our tool includes a toggle for this option so you can instantly see the repeating version of any gradient you create.

Frequently Asked Questions
A CSS gradient is a smooth transition between two or more colors created entirely with CSS code — no image files needed. CSS supports three types: linear-gradient (straight line), radial-gradient (circular), and conic-gradient (rotating). Gradients are resolution-independent and scale perfectly on all screen sizes.
Linear gradients transition colors in a straight line at a specified angle. Radial gradients radiate outward from a center point in circular or elliptical shapes. Conic gradients rotate colors around a center point like slices of a pie. Each type suits different design needs — linear for backgrounds and buttons, radial for spotlights and glows, conic for pie charts and color wheels.
Click the "Add Color Stop" button to add as many stops as you need. Each stop has an individual color picker, a position slider (0% to 100%), and an opacity control. Position 0% is the start and 100% is the end. You can place stops at any point to create complex multi-color transitions.
A repeating gradient tiles the gradient pattern across the element. For example, a repeating-linear-gradient with two stops creates stripes. Toggle the "Repeat Gradient" option to instantly see the repeating version of your gradient and copy the repeating- variant CSS code.
Modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) all support the standard CSS gradient syntax without any prefix. The -webkit- prefix was required for older versions of Chrome and Safari. For maximum compatibility with older browsers, toggle the "Include -webkit- prefix" option to include both the prefixed and standard versions in your CSS output.
To apply a gradient to text, set the background to your gradient, then add background-clip: text and -webkit-background-clip: text, and finally set color: transparent. This clips the gradient to the shape of the text characters. Our "Copy as Var" option makes it easy to reuse your gradient value in multiple CSS properties.
